Your great grandfather chose it and when it was drug home it was usually way to tall for even the 10 foot ceiling and had to be cut off. There were two trees. One was put up on the 1st of December and then the week of Christmas it was taken down because it was already dry and a second tree was put up and left up until after the New Year. There was roping hung from corner to corner and fastened to the hanging light and had tinsel icecicles hung on it and and a wreath in each window. We would put the icecicles on the tree too and would some times throw a handful and this did not make your grandmother happy. Under the tree were candy orange slices, gum drops, and vanilla creams and oranges, apples and various nuts. The homemade candies were divinity and fudge. Wish I had a piece or each right now. Merry ChristmasAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22364001.post-31654942413012539302006-12-23T16:33:00.000-05:002006-12-23T16:33:00.000-05:00Ours goes up early so it is up before the birthday...Ours goes up early so it is up before the birthday party. When we were growing up we always put the tree up on my brother's birthday (December 11th). Then gradually the date got moved back until now it is put up over Thanksgiving weekend. I noticed that a few of the neighbors even had theirs up the weekend before Thanksgiving!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22364001.post-57266314638989918982006-12-23T11:36:00.000-05:002006-12-23T11:36:00.000-05:00It also kept you guys from snooping, trying to fin...It also kept you guys from snooping, trying to find where your gifts were hidden.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
