She also preferred to cook tho we were asked to peel the potatoes & wash the dishes, but people hovering over her in the kitchen made her nervous. (I don't remember 'hovering' or asking how she cooked things or wanting to cook. (In fact I never learned to like to cook although I cooked for my family, but it was just something I had to do). We had to learn how to light the gas water heater, shovel coal into the furnace, help carry out the ashes on friday night for pickup, clean wall paper & other chores. What I enjoyed doing was cleaning & straightening out the desk drawers that sat in the dining room. In fact I'm still using that same desk and my granddaughter Sophie likes to help me clean & straighten out its drawers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22364001.post-85868946240654046862007-10-17T07:01:00.000-04:002007-10-17T07:01:00.000-04:00Poor Grandma, how did she keep up with all the hom...Poor Grandma, how did she keep up with all the home responsibilitie PLUS hold down a job? I bet she still hired everything. I wonder if it all got done or if Marjorie had to help as soon as she was big enough?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
