Cold

I ironed all morning with the kids bundled up, so it didn’t get warmer but threatened more rain so I built another fire for fear Ned would be sick.

(It wasn't easy to keep a house warm in the spring, whenever they wanted heat, they had to fire up the coke furnace in the basement.)

  1. Yesterday was Memorial Day so we went and visited Ruth and Gilbert's graves, and also Rollo and Elizabeth, Ruth's parents. We also risked our lives to drive by the old house on Rural Street. It looked so much smaller than I remember. I was sad to see that the Lilly of the Valley I remember so well are no longer there, nor the lilac, the snowball...Nothing is ever permanent, is it?

  2. I also stopped by 1208 Rural recently and agree that very little is the same. I crused the alley, and the back yard is totally different. At least the house is there instead of a parking lot or condo project.
    Great work Carol!!!
