Cool

Cleaned the sitting room paper and part of the wood work. A man happened along selling Magic rug cleaner for woodwork, etc. so I bought it and it certainly is good. I don’t believe I even got it clean before. Am sorry we can’t varnish it now as it needs it awfully bad.

(Does anyone just happen along anymore, looking to sell something? Not too often!)

  1. Who would buy magic rug cleaner for wood from a door to door salesman? I wouldn't. It must have been what we call 'an all purpose cleaner', and thankfully we don't have to contend with that kind of sales these days. I always wondered what kind of wood was used for the woodwork in that house. She always used orange shellac & when that is put on wook that has coal dust imbedded in it you get very dark woodwork
