Didn’t get a lot done today, my back still bothered me. Marjorie is pretty good these days. Sleeps most of the time – in my bed at night. Ned is a little man now days. He takes his nap upstairs alone in his bed and at night lets me turn out the light and go down stairs. He is getting so fat and rosy again, such a beautiful baby.
(Ned is 2 at this time.)

Carol, I don't comment often though I read this diary pretty faithfully. Isn't an ordinary life fascinating seen through the lens of 80 years on?
ReplyDeleteAs for your grandmother's poor back; she worked harder around the house than we would ever imagine nowadays but I think the worst thing must have been the ironing. As I remember, that's a back-killing job now, and I'm sure it was then. Thank heaven for our modern fabrics!
And they didn't even have steam irons then, and the irons were heavy.
